The evolution of school construction leads to insert the innovative teaching methods still evolving in an architectural space built to offer maximum comfort and flexibility over time. But in Montalcino there is another equally important system of factors: the landscape, the panorama and the skyline. The need for dialogue between the contemporary country and its secular history suggests a highly technological building, capable of carrying out all the required functions at best but sober and integrated in the privileged place in which it is located.
The architectural response is an ecological, flexible, organizationally functional and energy efficient building, capable of adapting from time to time to educational activities in an intuitive and simple way to accompany children from their childhood to adolescence, offering them the necessary comfort.
The architectural volume is spread over 3 levels that fit into the landscape. Inside, the space develops in a lively way and capable of welcoming pupils but also of being functional and well-functioning. The connective space is not only a distribution element but a flexible space always illuminated by natural light suitable for dynamic and multipurpose teaching. It overlooks the classrooms developed according to a rectangular module that facilitates the integration of the furniture.
The relationship with a territory of such historical, landscape and naturalistic value requires careful attention to the skylines, the permeability of the soil and the relationship with the urban fabric, both the ancient and the new construction.
The project binds to the existing terraces without interruption by proposing 3 overlapping levels whose upper coverage is 4m below the level of via Strozzi and 13m below the Fortezza tax plan so as not to compromise the morphological and aesthetic quality- perceptive of the historical aggregate. Furthermore, the panorama visible from the current road system is guaranteed
