NEW URBAN SPACE
San Pedro de Alcantara (Malaga)
Competition, 1st prize and planning
with Juan Socas
The project consists in the creation of a big square with an office building, a residential one, a market hall, some commercial premises and a 2 floors basement car park in the municipality of Marbella (Malaga).
Currently, the project area is a space with no identity whose shape is the result of the quick grow of the district. This space is delimited by the rear facades of its perimetral buildings and it’s used as unauthorized parking.
The basic idea is to create a new urban square that could become a reference in town by uniting and harmonizing the various architectural elements of the planned system.
The intervention is characterized by the continuity of a geometrical pattern that grows from the floor of the square to the facades of the new buildings, creating suggestive games of light and shadows and ordering every pieces of the new square.
