3rd MILLENNIUM CHURCH
Typology study
IDEA
The project was conceived after some reflections about ecclesiastical contemporary architecture. The target was designing a catholic church of nowadays without prescinding from 2000 years of christian architectural tradition. The result is a temple that is mainly built with recycled or waste materials with all the characteristics that allows it to be eco-sustainable during its construction and during its life.
One of the few elements that is built ad hoc is the multi-layer wooden structure that can remember the magrovia roots although it’s completely modular. That kind of tree is tough and humble and it can grow in sandy lands and with its roots, it can compact the ground preventing from erosion, a good metaphore for a contemporary christian church.
The interior is decorated by young artists wall paintings. The target is that the temple could be significant for the average christian who could feel an emotional impact in his place of worship.
