2015
MALDIVES CLUSTER IN EXPO2015
Milan
Project and works supervision
COMPLETED
The project is born from a special agreement between Maldives Government and the public University of Milano – Bicocca. The space that EXPO2015 offered to Maldives is a 60m2 cluster in a wooden pavilion built by the organizer. The schedule includes five different thematic areas: two spaces for introducing the country and explaining its relationship with the traditional and experimental food; one for explaining the scientific collaboration between the italian university and the Maldives; one commercial corner; one exposition space for the pictures of the photographer Andrea Frazzetta.
The architectonic language used for this fitting is a sober luxury that plays with two elements that characterized well the Maldives: its ubiquitous wooden boardwalks and its wonderful ocean.
The boardwalks rise and fold turning themselves into the display stands that create a more comfortable space for the visitors and design a kind of open rooms. The ocean is rappresented by a big ceiling projection that occupy more than half of the fitting.
All the materials used for its construction are 100% recyclable.
After the EXPO the fittingĀ has been dismantelled and recycled in the University of Milano Bicocca also for the entrance of the U28 building.
